Engagement rings seem to have a mind of their own as can be seen by the numerous stories of such rings being lost and miraculously being found again. Another freak story of a couple losing and finding their engagement ring again has recently come to the fore. A couple in Albuquerque lost their engagement ring recently and found it in the unlikeliest of places. The place where they found the engagement ring was in the stomach of their pet, a basset hound.

The couple, namely Rachelle Atkinson and Scott Atkinson, stated that they lost the engagement ring recently. As is obvious, the couple started looking for the engagement ring high and low to no avail. The couple did not want to give up hope on the engagement ring, simply because it was worth a considerable sum of 4, 500 American dollars. The culprit behind the mystery of the missing engagement ring turned out to be their own pet, a basset hound. According to the couple, they looked for the engagement ring everywhere before starting to suspect their own pet.

As is obvious, the couple took their dog to the veterinarian. The veterinarian took an X ray of the dog and discovered the engagement ring firmly lodged in the deeper side of his stomach. As the engagement ring was lodged and not coming out naturally, the veterinarian had to perform a minor surgery to get it out. The veterinarian also told the couple that basset hounds have a tendency to eat rocks and probably ate the engagement ring thinking the same. After the whole ordeal, Rachelle Atkinson stated that she had decided to keep her engagement ring away from her dog which is why she keeps it hidden now. The dog named Coraline is now looking for other expensive dishes to sate her appetite.
