A Brief Fashion History: McQueen began his career as a tailor, training on London’s famous Savile Row, a street known for its bespoke men’s tailoring. This beginning would eventually influence his work as a designer and make precision tailoring a respected element in Alexander McQueen designs.
In 1992, McQueen received his Masters in Fashion Design from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design (Cher went there too!).
In 1996, McQueen succeeded John Galliano as Creative Director of Givenchy in Paris, where he remained until beginning his own fashion house in 2001.

I fell in love with these silvery-green keishi pearls the moment I saw them on the Lima Beads website. Im a sucker for freshwater pearls as it is, and these were just so yummy I couldnt help myself. I thought it would be nice to make a beaded necklace just for myself for a change, so I ordered one and eagerly waited for it to arrive in my mailbox.
I wasnt disappointed. The keishi pearls were absolutely gorgeous when I pulled them out of the bag, and I got started making a spiral rope base that I wanted to embellish with these beautiful freshwater pearls. Instead of making just a small centerpiece of freshwater pearl embellishment, I decided that I was going to make an entire thick rope of keishi pearls for myself.
Last week, a busybody speculated aloud that my favorite red lipstick is full of lead that will give me cancer. (My reaction can be summed up by this 2008 post.) Right after that conversation, I saw that lots of news organizations were picking up a story about a pair of Dutch artists Lernert Engelberts and Sander Plug who applied a years worth of makeup in a single day to model Hannelore Knuts for a film called Natural Beauty.
Okay, interesting art project. But Im annoyed by the news-site comments and self-flagellating blog posts saying, Women are terrible! Look what we do to ourselves with all this makeup! WTF? This project says nothing meaningful about your life. A
