Dress up like a dandy seemed to be Paul Smith’s motto for his A/W 12 collection.
Plush sapphire blue velvet trousers, iridescent dégradé burnt orange and grey dresses, as well as boyishly tailored pea coats and blazers defined a collection that stayed true to Smith’s self-described signature of ‘classic with a twist’.
Tweed and plaid prints paired with low slung, front-pleated trousers and silk draped tops kept the feel of the collection more feminine rather than borrowed from the boys, while the injection of colours such as deep fuchsia, emerald green and garnet punched up the chromatic factor for coming winter months.
Paul Smith may be a permanent fixture on the London Fashion Week schedule, but he sure knows how to keep things fresh.

Jewelspotting at Fashion Week
Even more so than from the runway, I find the most seasonal style inspiration from the streets of New York, London, Milan and Paris during each citys Fashion Week. Seeing how stylish show-goers dress up and experiment with different ways to wear jewelry is often the best gauge of where fashion is heading. Below are some of my favorite shots from outside the Fall 2012 Fashion Shows.

Talk about excess-orizingthis eclectic mix of bracelets and rings somehow just works.

London based photographer Noemie Goudal has completely captivated us with her large-scale paper backdrops. Her carefully placed images blur the lines between reality and make-believe, inviting viewers into a hidden world we wish we could explore.

NYFW Greenshows: Luis Valenzuela’s Wearable Sculptures
Posted by: Rose Struth

Luis Valenzuela is both a fashion designer and a visual artist, and it shows in his creative use of eco fabrics (incorporating new types of unrefined silks) paired with sculptural and draped silhouettes.
The dresses here were shown at the Greenshows as part of New York Fashion week.

Wearable art indeed.
